Diadem (ˈdīəˌdem’, which is the pronunciation as “Dy-uh-dem”)

A diadem is a jeweled crown or headband worn to symbolize sovereignty, authority, and dignity. A diadem is worn to tell those around you who you are. You are wearing the crown, not the crown wearing you. The person wearing the crown knows who they are; a diadem reflects who they are to others.

Diadems LLC is the name of this company; the message we receive from social media is that our clothes wear us and not us wearing the clothes. Most people wear clothes to hide who they are and try to fit into the social media crowd. Instead of wearing clothes to tell the world who they are. Diadems LLC designs clothes and accessories to connect to you, to express to the world that this is who I am, take it or leave it. Diadem is also the name of the founder and designer of the company.

Founder & Designer

Diadem Abayode was born in Nigeria and moved to the United States of America at six years old with her family. At 10 years old, she attended sewing classes at Joann but stopped at 11 years old. At 12, she decided she wanted to be a fashion designer just from watching The Bratz live movie. From then she practiced drawing fashion dresses and attempted to sew by herself.

She founded Diadems in February 2020 during her junior year of college. She received her bachelor's degree in Apparel Design and Innovation with a minor in Fashion Management and a certificate in Creativity and Design in May 2022 at the age of 24. While building her brand, she wants to incorporate her Nigerian culture into her designs. She also wants to support the businesses in Nigeria by purchasing Ankara fabrics from them. This is her way to say thank you for inspiring her daily. Without the culture and clothes she receives from her family in Nigeria, this brand would not exist.
